The New Deal Swing Band was established in 2003 by Utah Symphony principal clarinetist, Tad Calcara. The band performs the original arrangements made famous by the great Big Bands of the 1930s and 40s.
New Deal Swing offers two types of services:
1. The New Deal Swing Band is a 16-piece 1930s/40s style Big Band that plays classic swing
music. This group primarily performs in the Salt Lake City, Utah area; however, out of town/state
performances will be considered.
2. The New Deal Swing Symphony Pops Show. This program is a perfect package for any symphony orchestra’s pops concert series. Special expanded arrangements by Tony DiLornezo enlarge the original tunes from 16 pieces to full symphony orchestra. This program is always a popular hit with audiences of all ages.
